Ion Belarrageneral secretary of Podemos, has assured in a letter to her party’s militant group that they have signed the agreement according to add overlooking the general elections of the next July 23 Not included Irene Montero in the lists, because they “threatened“with which, if they do not accept the terms,”excluded from the electoral coalition“.
“From Yolanda Díaz’s negotiating team, the refusal to lift the ban on Irene and the irrevocable decision to maintain the last bid sent”, states in her letter the secretary general of the purple party, where she believes that “the veto on Irene Montero is a mistake and should be lifted“.
Belarra, assures that the Coordination Council this Friday approved the signing of the electoral coalition with Sumar, despite threatened to stay out. “We have been threatened that if we do not accept the terms, we will be excluded from the electoral coalition, as has already happened in Andalusia,” he laments in his letter.
In this regard, the Podemos Coordination Board informed Sumar’s negotiating team that “Podemos does not accept our colleague Irene Montero’s veto to join the team that will participate in the next general election on July 23″, and urges Yolanda Díaz’s team continue trading for the next week until the presentation of the lists (the period ends on 19 June).
“Once again, Podemos is being asked to give up its main electoral asset. We think not including Irene is not only an unfair decision, but also a political and electoral mistake“, he insists.
For this reason, Belarra believes that the election agreement between Podemos and Sumar “should be fair and ensure our representation in the Congress of Deputies”. Thus, he undertakes to work “until the last moment” to “an agreement that respects the militancy of Podemos“.
