“I think we added more today than we did yesterday”

Date:

Sources at Sumar assure that there is no possibility of including the current Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, on the electoral lists with which the coalition will stand in the next elections on July 23.

This Saturday, Yolanda Diaz It has celebrated the Sumar agreement that brought together 15 left-wing formations. At a press conference in Madrid, he declared that they are going to win the general election. His team reached an agreement drive on the left on Friday, in which, among others, Podemos, Izquierda Unida, Más Madrid, Compromís and the comuns will participate. Díaz has promised that they will “show it can be done break with resignation and cynicism“.

“We were excited when an agreement was demanded of us,” began Sumar’s leader, accompanied by campaign spokesman Ernest Urtasun, among others, “and we bring you an agreement. Dialogue and agreement, a lot of dialogue, a lot of debate, but always walking together. I think we added more today than yesterday”.

The second vice president of the government thanked all formations who have joined the left-wing coalition. “They tried their best to understand that Spain wanted us to shake hands. Political formations that want to come from the north to the south, from the east and to the west. Thanks to those formations,” he said.

Likewise, Díaz has assured that he will not ask anyone to vote for Sumar out of fear, but rather vote with hope. “We didn’t come to instill fear or panic or tell horror stories and raise spirits, on the contrary,” he noted.

And there he attacked the leader of the PP, Alberto Nuñez Feijoo, for showing “great ignorance” about what is happening in the country and how people live. “That’s the most serious thing”, because according to his words, the president of the popular groups has to deal with what organizations like the OECD argue about the country’s economic situation, labor reform or the impact of the minimum wage.

“They can’t say anything about the economic reality of the country because they don’t know about it. They lie and make noise because they have nothing to offer the Spaniards,” he insisted.

Díaz has said he wants Sumar to excite the audience, “remember that we can move on“, proposing dialogue, debate and agreement. “We need to add more and better,” the coalition leader stressed.

Frames without Montero

Sources from Sumar repeated that on Saturday there is no possibility to include the current Minister of Equality, Irene Monteroto the electoral lists with which the coalition is competing in the next elections on 23 July.

Ion BelarraSecretary-General of Podemos and Minister of Social Rights, Sumar wrote this morning asking that his formation lift the veto over Montero before the end of the filing deadline, which ends on June 19, to which coalition sources have responded in the negative.
