The youngest federal state of Austria is 100. Alexander Van der Bellen reveals in a confidential conversation that he admires the diversity of cultures, favors smart energy sources such as wind energy and what connects him to the strawberry queen.
“crown”: Burgenland turned 100. What would you write on a greeting card, Mr. President?
Alexander Van der Bellen: When you come to beautiful Burgenland you will see a variety that is second to none. Wind farms and nature reserves, of course vineyards and idyllic cellar lanes, lakes and castles. And if you’re lucky – and can see well – stork nests. You can see the impressive success story after joining the EU. What you also find in Burgenland is a sense of belonging, such as that of the ethnic groups or when it comes to actively shaping the future, for example in the field of renewable energy. Once again I congratulate you on your 100th birthday and wish the people of Burgenland all the best for the future!
