A green lung is now being planted in the heart of the Waldviertel in Lower Austria with a donation from Krone-Sonne. In line with our eco-offensive.
“Anyone who plants trees, even if he knows that he will never sit in the shade, at least begins to understand the meaning of sustainability,” Christoph Schmutz of the Krone-Sonne Ceyond digital agency quotes the great philosopher Rabindranath Tagore. It is precisely this wisdom that motivates us to add another facet to the turnaround in solar eco-energy supported by so many customers. A large forest in Langau in the north of Lower Austria is now being saved with a donation. An urgent measure for the survival of the green lungs in the Waldviertel.
Because climate change has fueled the spread of the bark beetle, especially in this region. In total, the forest plague was able to eat 5,700 hectares of spruce in the districts of Horn and Waidhofen an der Thaya alone. It was very easy for him there because global warming weakens the trees and makes them vulnerable. Now the forest desert needs to be reforested. Mayor Daniel Mayerhofer, forest manager Franz Linsbauer and, for the Krone Sonne, Christoph Schmutz, have now symbolically laid the first sod for a robust mixed forest in his hometown.
Forest stores many tons of greenhouse gases
“We want to immerse ourselves in green worlds together and deepen the successful photovoltaic initiative of ‘Better Energy’,” the trio describes during the local eco visit. After the initial tenderness and then the strengthening of germination, the climate will noticeably “breathe”. Because one hectare of forest can store an average of six tons of CO2 per year. And with age, this power of the mysterious network of trunk, leaves and needle will only increase.
The directors of Krone-Sonne Anja Schmidt and Christian Lebelhuber are of course delighted: “We are pleased that we can also make a sustainable contribution to the fight against climate change with the help of our customers in this way!”
Pleasant ecological balance for our PV systems
But each of our installed systems also counts. To date, more than 1,500 rooftop installations throughout Austria have generated environmentally friendly electricity from the air. The total power is 7227 kWp. So far, 2023.56 tons of CO2 have been saved per year. A balance that encourages us to continue working on the energy transition.
