In Bolivia, a bus fell on Monday in almost 800 meters of deep abyss and tore dozens of travelers. 28 people were killed, 20 more injured, the police said.
The bus driver drove too fast and lost control of the vehicle near the city of Yocalla in the south of the country, a police spokesperson said local media.
The bus was on the route from Potosí to Oruro in the Highlands. The route leads over high mountains with deep gorges.
Streets in many cases poorly secured
In the Andes state, dozens of people die every year when gaps in buses. Many roads are poorly secured. It was only in an accident in January – also near Potosi – 19 people were killed.
