The 4-day week in the Liebherr factory in Oost-Tirol ended as planned in December. A second industrial giant in the region, IDM, is now expanding this model until May. The “Kroon” knows the background.
It was a shock for many when it became known in October 2024 that the Heat Pomp IDM manufacturer in Matrei sent employees from Logistics and Production to the 4-day week. The order situation and the camp effects were responded to an internal agreement. In mutual permission, the new model was switched to the new model at the end of January. In particular, it was a reduction in capacity of 20 percent. IDM paid a voluntary reimbursement to the salary of the pillow.
The “Kroon” asked if these measures were canceled as announced at the end of January. A statement says: “The 4-day week for the areas of production and logistics, which was introduced in October in October, was extended until the end of May.” Respond to the currently very dynamic developments. Moreover, it says: “In short, in 2025 we assume a recovery and repeated question.”
Liebherr work as usual in action
The Liebherr company also implemented a similar model in Lienz. A planned short time work was rejected in August as reported. There was a 4-day week towards the end of the year. 700 employees were affected in production and in production -related areas. “The measure went out as planned at the end of 2024”, confirms Holger König, commercial manager at the Lienz location and continues: “We wanted to keep ourselves on our valuable regular workforce and make savings socially acceptable. Our declared goal was also to capacity to be able to offer before the start of a new device line at the beginning of 2025. ”
For the rest of the year, behavior is optimistic, but the political situation in Austria and Germany and the global uncertainties must wait, according to König: “The workload of the work in Lienz is increased as planned in 2025, in particular by the beginning of the start from the start of the new device category. “
