results in the fall? – Off to summer school with our government

Date:

The Austrian government must deliver on the financial settlement and budget in the autumn. When it comes to asylum, mobility and performance, the ÖVP and the Greens will continue to work together until the 2024 elections.

About 33,000 students are attending the summer school this year to prepare for the coming school year in the autumn. That would also do some members of the government good. The certificate issued by the “crown” of the turquoise-green coalition can be extended. In the ÖVP, ministers Norbert Totschnig, Susanne Raab and Martin Polaschek are particularly weak. Political adviser Thomas Hofer notes that the agriculture minister is almost always on the defensive in a department that is central to the ÖVP.

Minister of Agriculture is satisfied with himself
When asked, Totschnig defended himself by saying that he wanted to score points with “sound and constructive work”. “I’m someone who craves completed milestones and not headlines.” Green Party Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, to whom political experts Hofer and Peter Filzmaier recommend additional communication lessons, hands in homework.

Next week 33 laws in the National Council
According to the Kogler department, the government will pass 33 more laws before the summer recess in the National Council, including the Raser package, anti-corruption criminal law and the health care reform. The ÖVP wants to increase the grade average with successes in the budget. Major reform steps in the health sector have been announced as part of the financial settlement between the federal and state governments. Some progress can also be made in the field of energy supply. The issues of asylum and mobility remain points of friction.
