In krone.tv’s summer interview with Katia Wagner, Beate shares Meinl-Reisinger. She finds few positive words especially for Herbert Kickl and the FPÖ. Will there be a coalition with red and green after the next election? “I don’t see a majority for it at the moment,” she rejects.
It is rather her “job to really get on the nerves of the established parties”. Herbert Kickl doesn’t trust the pink front woman “a bit”. “They tap like the others, focused on power and see the republic as a self-service shop,” explains Katia Wagner’s Meinl-Reisinger. For them, the FPÖ is incapable of governing.
“I understand if you really want to slap the government on the chin”
But the ÖVP and SPÖ are also only concerned with “maintaining power” – this was also apparent from the debate on the depoliticization of the ORF. She understands if one or the other wants to have “the biggest glove possible” “that really hits the ruler on the chin”. The FPÖ is not a good alternative, Kickl only complains “once against everything with sharpness”.
No mandatory room membership, 32-hour work week “madness”
The NEOS boss is also clear in terms of content. She wants the ancillary wage costs to go down and also thinks the abolition of mandatory membership of parliament is a good thing, because their reserves are too “inflated”. She compares the head of the Chamber of Commerce with Scrooge McDuck, “who is in a cash box”. SPÖ boss Andreas Babler’s demand for a 32-hour working week is “madness” for her, as there is a shortage of personnel in many areas.
How much participation is compatible with our neutrality?
In the neutrality debate, Meinl-Reisinger sees herself as “the only honest one”: “I’m the only one who makes people understand!” The notion of neutrality is “completely dusty”. That is why she advocates an EU army with the participation of Austria. Wouldn’t that mean an erosion of our neutrality? “It’s very compatible with neutrality,” says Meinl-Reisinger.
“I don’t think Kickl is such an expert”
Meinl-Reisinger currently sees “no majority in the wide area” for cooperation with the SPÖ and the Greens, nor for a traffic light coalition. She has not yet met Andreas Babler. She is in “regular contact” with Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, as well as the other party leaders. Only with Herbert Kickl she doesn’t necessarily have to go for an iced coffee. “I feel like he’s not much of a bon vivant,” she says.
