New US administration – Trump gives Musk and Fox presenter important posts

Date:

Newly elected US President Donald Trump is currently assembling his cabinet. Tesla billionaire Elon Musk has led the government’s new Ministry of Efficiency. A presenter from Trump’s favorite channel Fox News will become the US Secretary of Defense.

Musk should work with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to reduce bureaucracy, cut spending and restructure federal agencies, Trump wrote on Musk’s online platform X. The department will work “outside of government.” Musk supported Trump during the election campaign with generous donations.

Invested $20 million in the election campaign
Musk is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and has become deeply entwined with Trump’s inner circle in recent months. The tech titan and richest person in the world has done a lot to earn this spot. By mid-October alone, he had invested about $120 million in the ex-president’s election campaign, mainly in the potentially crucial state of Pennsylvania. He also flooded his more than 200 million followers on the online platform X, which he owns, day in and day out with calls to vote for Trump and scathing criticism of Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.

Musk mainly addressed the popular topic of immigration. He spread the false claim that Democrats were flying in migrants to overturn the election. Even users who don’t follow him directly started seeing pro-Trump posts in their timeline via the “For You” selection.

Biotech entrepreneur with Musk in the ministry
Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will work alongside Musk in the new ministry. Ramaswamy is a biotech entrepreneur. He entered the 2024 Republican primaries as a political outsider and is a successful author who has advocated for market-oriented reforms in the past.

Fox News host as Secretary of Defense
Fox News host and veteran Pete Hegseth will become U.S. Secretary of Defense. “Pete is tough, smart and truly believes in America First,” Trump said. With Hegseth at the helm, ‘America’s enemies’ have been warned. Hegseth has served as a soldier in Afghanistan, Iraq and Cuba. “Our military will be great again, and America will never give in again,” the future US president said.

Too ‘extremist’ for the US military
Hegseth once said he left the army in 2021 after being labeled an extremist there. “The feeling was mutual – I didn’t want this army anymore either,” Hegseth said in his book “The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free.”

Hegseth currently moderates the program ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’ on the right-wing conservative broadcaster Fox News. During the election campaign, Trump enjoyed listening to the morning show to highlight his issues.

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem will become the US Secretary of Homeland Security, as previously reported. The Republican was very concerned about security at the border, Trump said on Tuesday. Noem was the first governor to send National Guard soldiers “to help Texas combat the Biden border crisis.”
