Research Run-Air-India Crash: Focus now Fuel

Date:

After the Air India crash on 12 June, an attempt will be made to find out the cause of the crash. In their research, the researchers focus on whether the two motor fuel controllers were reversed. That would explain why the plane suddenly had no thrust.

On Friday it was 30 days since the Boeing 787 Dreamliner fell in Ahmedabad for only 32 seconds and 260 people fell. Only one passenger survived the escape disaster in India.

The focus is on two switches that regulate the fuel supply. These are normally not served. Only in the case of a floating malfunction or fire do you have the option to put it on “Cutoff” and thus switch off the fuel. The result would be a complete loss of pushing, as the accident machine had suffered.

Switches have security
It is even impossible to unintentionally operate these two switches. These are located under the push levers and have a mechanical lock to prevent this. To switch off the fuel supply, the switch must first be increased before it can be moved. If this happens, the generators can no longer deliver many aircraft and some cockpit displays with electricity.

Until now, as the industrial magazine “The Air Current” reported, it is not yet excluded that the switches were operated. Invisible, casual or even deliberate actions are still in the room.

No signs of technical problem on Boeing
Soothing: Until now, no signs of a mechanical or constructive problem of the Boeing Dreamliner or with the engines have been found. The data that is available so far would also not indicate a fuel pollution or incorrect insertion of the landing flaps.

On Friday, the Research Authority is obliged to issue an initial investigation report. However, it is still unclear whether it will be published.
