The deadline for requesting a vote by mail passed yesterday and the last day to deposit it is Thursday of next week, the 20th. Correos recommends not waiting for the last day to do so.
To expedite voting by mail for the General Election on July 23, the Post Offices they will open their doors in a special way This Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Similarly, evening hours are extended in those offices that work in the afternoon. In this way, the afternoon program between the 13th and the 20th is extended to 10 p.m.
Due to the additional burden imposed by postal voting in light of postal elections, 101 offices in the Basque Country (52 in Bizkaia, 38 in Gipuzkoa and 11 in Álava) and the central offices of the capitals are open this Saturday 9 a.m. and 2 p.m
In addition, Correos has decided to extend the opening hours of the offices that open in the afternoon to 10 p.m. from today until July 20, the last day.
Correos has also arranged for the opening to the public when necessary in cities that celebrate local holidays this month.
The Post Office has reported that, despite the “huge influx” of people requesting a vote by mail, attention in the offices is developing with “absolute normality” and that the “legally established” deadlines are being met. The trade unions, on the other hand, have denounced delays in the delivery of the documentation.
