Sumar has asked the Catalan leader of Unidas Podemos to lead talks with the formation of Carles Puigdemont, with whom he maintains a good relationship.
Jaume Asens (En Comú Podem) will lead the talks Add of together to know their starting position and to explore all avenues of agreement, seeking the support of the Catalan separatists for a new coalition government of the left.
The coalition has asked Unidas Podemos’s hitherto president in Congress to lead the talks, saying that for their success they must “rely on the best” as it is “dialogue time”. Sumar believes it is a “luxury” to have Asens, who has shown in the past that he can agree.
Sumar’s sources assure that Asens is the right person and that with him “it will be easier to reach an agreement”, especially because of “knowledge of the Catalan political reality, as well as his good relationship with many of the spaces that are called to understand each other”. Asens has a good relationship with Carles Puigdemont.
At a press conference, Sumar’s spokesman said: Ernest Urtasunhas indicated that negotiations are underway with key parliamentary groups, including Junts, but does not want to take a negotiating position until contacts are made.
In this sense, he has emphasized that everyone has a great responsibility to achieve the only alternative to electoral replay, with the support of the PSOE executive and Sumar, not to give PP and Vox a second chance.
