At the end of the round of contacts with the parliamentary groups, the President of the Parliament of Navarra, Unai Hualde, has informed the media that he will propose the socialist María Chivite to chair the Foral government.
The President of the Parliament of Navarre, Unai Hualdehas proposed as dates for the plenary session of the investiture of the socialist María Chivite the days August 12 and 13awaiting this Friday to be approved by the Table and Council of Spokespersons.
The regulations of the Parliament of Navarre provide for a period of 72 hours between the circle of contacts and the inauguration session, but both the president and the parliamentary council can speed up these deadlines, as Hualde explained to the media at the end of the round of contact.
Therefore, on Saturday the 12th, the first plenary inauguration session will be held, with debate throughout the day and in the afternoon the first vote. In addition, it is expected that the candidate proposed by Hualde, the socialist María Chivite, will not win an absolute majority.
In this way, 24 hours after the first vote, ie on Sunday the 13th at noon, another vote will be taken. Only a simple majority is needed on this occasion, which Chivite is expected to reach with EH Bildu’s abstention.
Hualde explained that next Friday the Table and Council of Spokespersons will approve these deadlines, although the UPN spokesperson, Javier Esparza, has said he opposes bringing the deadlines forward.
The President of the Chamber has expressed his “pleasure” that “a legislature with multiple powers that have agreed despite the differences” is about to start again.
