PP, PSOE, Vox, Sumar, PNV and EH Bildu have guaranteed the formation of groups. Sumar will loan delegates to the ERC and the PSOE to the Junts so that they can form their own group in Congress. Meanwhile, the Canary Islands Coalition, BNG and UPN are moving towards a Mixed Group.
The deadline for the registration of Congress parliamentary groups ends today, Friday, August 25. PP, PSOE, Vox, Sumar, PNV and EH Bildu have guaranteed the formation of groups because they meet all the requirements of the Regulation.
For their part, ERC and Junts will get the help of Sumar and PSOE to form their own group. Sumar will loan delegates to the ERC and the PSOE to the Junts so that they have a group in Congress.
Esquerra Republicana, like Junts, has seven deputies, but falls short of the 15% set by the Rules of Procedure of the House of Commons to form a parliamentary group. However, the pro-independence parties are guaranteed to have their own groups thanks to the agreements reached with the PSOE to support Francina Armengol for president and the rest of the progressive candidates for the Congress table.
Coalición Canaria, BNG and UPN are in turn moving towards a Mixed Group.
Parties and coalitions must register the name they want to give their groups and communicate who their spokespersons will be.
As soon as the Table takes a first decision on the political groups on 28 August, important decisions for the functioning of the House can be taken, such as the distribution of seats in the House, which are necessary to convene the first plenary session.
