Demanded consequences – Opposition: ex-state councilor as ‘hungry caterpillar’

Date:

The united Tyrolean opposition wants to have former ÖVP regional councilor Hannes Tratter removed as designated director of Neue Heimat Tirol (NHT): the reason is the state auditor’s report on 18 weeks of “recreational leave”.

The united Tyrolean opposition feels confirmed by the National Audit Office’s report on the “Causa Tratter” that it initiated. Green Party leader Gebi Mair summarized the report as follows: “The State Audit Office has exposed post-trading and the knighthood of privilege.”

Former State Councilor lay down gently
Ex-ÖVP State Councilor Tratter fell very softly after leaving the state government in the fall of 2022: he returned to state service and immediately took 18 weeks of vacation, which he had accrued despite his absence – he was a State Councilor. “Tratter reminds me of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. He consumed the best of both worlds: the freedoms of the private sector and the privileges of the civil service in the state service,” explained Neos state chairman Dominik Oberhofer. Markus Sint, club chairman of the Fritz list, saw a “horrible moral picture of the ÖVP”. You made it for someone of your own. The 18 weeks of vacation were “not legal”.

Changing the law is an admission of guilt
“The Tratter case is a slap in the face to both people in the private sector and the state service,” said FP boss Markus Abwerzger. The fact that the state government now wants to change the law that prevents the accumulation of vacation despite absence is an admission of guilt.

In the next state parliament (Wednesday/Thursday), the opposition will submit a motion aimed at preventing Tratter from becoming technical director of Neue Heimat.

VP club boss announces repairs
VP club boss Jakob Wolf identified a “miss in the subject”: it was not the state government or the state parliament that appointed Tratter, but rather the green BM Georg Willi and LR Mario Gerber as representatives of the owners. Regarding the National Audit Office’s special audit report, Wolf emphasized after the discussions in the relevant committee of the state parliament that there are certainly two legal opinions here. “If we were to settle the matter, I am quite certain that the Court’s arguments in the audit report would not hold up,” Wolf is convinced. “To ensure legal certainty once and for all, we will take immediate action and make appropriate legal clarifications in the state parliament.
