In the summer lecture of krone.tv, ÖVP boss Karl Nehammer sharpened his ‘no’ to a coalition with Herbert Kickl. He would be out of the question for the Turks not only as chancellor and vice-chancellor, but also as minister! But he still leaves a door open…
“Yes, I excluded Herbert Kickl, you cannot close a state with him,” confirms Chancellor Karl Nehammer. The ÖVP chairman also does not want to see his blue opponent on a ministerial post. However, Nehammer adds, “Herbert Kickl is not all the freedom party”. So if Kickl were to retire, the way is still open for blue and black…
Cancellation: no new elections
In general, Nehammer is convinced that the result will be different on Election Day. He is confident that voters at the polls will remember that he “led this country very carefully through these crises.” However, he is aware that even in his own ranks there are many “dissatisfied” people. His record in the turquoise green government is still good. The elections would therefore only take place in the autumn.
‘Financial circles’ want to do away with cash
The issue of cash is still a major concern for him, even if it is subject to “mockery and malice” in the media. He has repeatedly heard from ‘financial circles’ that cash should be abolished. While shopping, it had already happened to him that cash was rejected. The fact that cash is already guaranteed by EU law, but also by the National Banking Law, is not enough for him. He wants to be “a strong voice for money”.
Rental brake on krone.tv announced for the first time!
In krone.tv’s summer interview with Katia Wagner, the Chancellor also announced for the first time that he would give in to the rent brake. He wanted to ‘not allow rent increases of up to 15%’. Final negotiations are currently underway to put the brakes on these rent increases. He also wants to ‘continue to tighten the screws’ for the energy companies and ‘intervene’ in the event of distortion of competition.
“I believe in the innocence of Sebastian Kurz”
Nehammer is not concerned that ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is likely to face trial during the election campaign. He is still in “regular contact” with him and is happy that the process is now starting. “I believe in the innocence of Sebastian Kurz and, above all, in the independent judiciary,” he says, supporting his predecessor. “That is why it is good that the clarification process is starting now,” he says.
Turquoise or black?
Does Nehammer still see himself as “turquoise” or “black” again? He was “deeply Christian-socially formed”. But: “Turquoise is a beautiful, sympathetic color”, he smiles.
Watch the entire summer conversation with Karl Nehammer above! You can see Herbert Kickl this Friday at 9:35 PM in conversation with Katia Wagner on krone.tv!
