The acting Ministry of Education and Universities has decided to postpone the measure on the basis of a legal report that advises against this.
The Spanish government will postpone one year, until 2025, the reform of the baccalaureate assessment for the Research by Access to the university (EvAU), formerly Selectivity, that is no changes will take place in the 2024 test, as confirmed by government sources.
The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training handed over this decision to the Autonomous Communities, with which it met electronically on Thursday. The Ministry of Universities also intends to hand over the decision to the universities this morning.
The royal decision to approve this test was almost complete, but the ministry halted the process in May, after the call for a general election. The intention of the ministry led by Pilar Alegría was to resume the project after the elections, although it was eventually put on hold.
The delay is due to the legal reports requested by Education, but they do not guarantee this a government in office may pass laws or royal decrees unless they respond to issues of “extreme urgency,” the same sources have added.
