Felipe VI will meet the King Emeritus in Madrid when he returns to Spain

Felipe VI, who traveled to Abu Dhabi this Sunday to express his condolences on the death of the former head of state of the United Arab Emirates, spoke to his father by phone.

King Felipe VI will meet with King Emeritus Juan Carlos I, in Madrid, when he returns to Spain Felipe VI traveled to Abu Dhabi on Sunday following the death of the former head of state of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and spoke to his father by phone. As reported by the Royal House, both have agreed to meet in Madrid.

In early March, King Emeritus Juan Carlos I announced that he will continue to live in Abu Dhabi, but that he will return to Spain “often”, according to a letter addressed to Felipe VI.

The emeritus king fled to Abu Dhabi in August 2020 when it became known that he would be investigated for corruption.
