So, and after two years of hiatus, the lehendakari will resume its international agenda

This has been assured by the spokesperson for the Executive, Bingen Zupiria, during the press conference after the Board of Directors. During his journey, Urkullu is accompanied by the Secretary-General for Foreign Action, Marian Elorza, and the Director of European Affairs, Mikel Anton.

The official delegation starts its agenda in Ajaccio on 30th of May with several meetings at the headquarters of the Corsican Collective. He will meet, among others, the President of the Executive Council of Corsica, Gilles Simeoni, or the President of the Assembly, Marie-Antoinette Maupertuis.

In the afternoon he visits the research and innovation platforms for renewable energy Myrte and PagliaOrba in Vignola and the next day he goes to the Andria Fazi school and leaves for the city of Corté.

During the journey, the Lehendakari will have the opportunity to exchange government experiences in the field of culture, language and heritage

It should be noted that Urkullu and the President of Corsica, Gilles Simeoni, held a telematics meeting in April 2020 in which they Memorandum of Cooperation with the aim that the Basque and Corsican institutions promote the development of bilateral relations and provide a common basis for future collaborations in the following areas: economic relations, culture, diaspora or language policy.

According to Zupiria, Urkullu sees a good time to resume this collaboration.

Corsica is part of the network of strategic relationships that Euskadi maintains with Flanders, Bavaria, Quebec and Jiangsu, among others.
