Uxue Barkos is elected regional senator for Navarre

Following her election, the former President of Navarre thanked the trust placed in her and demonstrated her commitment to the common good of the Foral community.

The former president of Navarre and leader of Geroa Bai, Uxue Barkoshas been elected regional senator for the Foral community during a vote last Thursday in the Navarrese parliament, and as agreed during the negotiations on the formation of the new executive, she has had the support of the groups that make up the Foral government. The 21 votes represented by these formations (11 from PSN, 7 from Geroa Bai and 3 from Contigo-Navarra) have given Barkos the necessary majority.

The position, held during the last term by Koldo Martínez (Geroa Bai), was also held by the regionalist Juan José Echeverría, who counted 18 votes in favor (15 from UPN and 3 from the PP). During the voting, 11 blank votes were registered, 9 from EH Bildu and 2 from Vox.

In statements to the media after his election, Barkos emphasized that he will continue a work closely linked to the Parliament of Navarre and to something he is passionate about, namely “the action of politics, looking, thinking and working for the society. “Navarre”. She has assured that she will take up the position of regional senator “convinced, honored and enthusiastic”.
