Journalist and Krone columnist Rainer Nowak sharply criticizes the actions of some domestic climate activists in the current “TV duel”: “The climate glue tactics are stupid. But if there is actually an increase in penalties due to the actions of the gluers, it smacks of improvised legislation. And that’s not right either.”
Meanwhile, Nowak’s ‘Duel’ opponent Lena Schilling, as a climate activist, is not very impressed with domestic climate policy: ‘We only have emotional pseudo-debates about climate glue. But no concrete climate policy is being made, only climate smoke grenades are being thrown.’ Even though the climate movement has generally lost support recently, it is clear: “After this summer of disasters, there is still all talk and no action.”
Nowak is critical of government policy: “You already notice something of the green handwriting. But the ÖVP is not really having the best of times right now.” Schilling added: “The self-proclaimed driving nation of Austria is dismantling the railways, but adding new roads. This is not an active environmental policy.”
You can see even more explosive debates, such as the planned stricter EU driving license rules or public confidence in the EU, in the video above.
