The content is correct: the vice president of the state only reprimands the chancellor because of his tone

Date:

How does the Upper Austrian ÖVP deal with the Chancellor’s video, in which party leader Karl Nehammer critically discusses child poverty and women’s work for a men’s party? At the level of top civil servants, the content and choice of words are assessed separately; milder reprimands are given only in tone.

In Linz they try to assess content and tone separately, as state manager Florian Hiegelsberger does even more emphatically than state governor Thomas Stelzer. Hiegelsberger tells the “Krone”: “The Chancellor’s statements come from an internal party group in which Karl Nehammer of course formulated them very openly, emphatically and on some points certainly unfortunately. The artificial excitement that has now been created is controlled and is probably a diversionary tactic by the SPÖ in response to the dubious events surrounding Sora’s strategy document. However, in the ÖVP and OÖVP, this excitement does not exist, because the chancellor addresses the core values and core interests of the People’s Party with personal responsibility, work and performance.

Personal responsibility, work and performance
“Of course you can always discuss word choice and taste,” says OÖVP women’s leader Cornelia Pöttinger, almost identical to Stelzer. About the content, Pöttinger says: “As ÖVP we are the party of personal responsibility, work and performance. These have been the pillars of the state and the welfare state in Austria for decades. This creates cohesion, further development and social balance to combat child poverty.” She further emphasizes: “In the interest of women who currently face obstacles in taking up or expanding work, we are continuously expanding the range of childcare available in Austria and Upper Austria.”

“Nothing comes from nothing” is the conclusion
Party leader Hiegelsberger ultimately summarizes it as follows: “Everyone who works and is involved should be able to create something for themselves in Upper Austria. In fact, the Chancellor says: ‘Nothing comes from nothing.’ In doing so he speaks from the hearts of many.”
