There is simply no end to animal abandonment in Carinthia. On the Gailberg in Upper Carinthia, a silk rooster was put in a box and thrown into a ditch. Forest workers have warned an animal expert!
Forest workers became aware of the frightened rooster on the Gailberg near Oberdrauburg on Wednesday morning and informed Yvonne Linder, who is known for her love of animals. “The workers also thought it was one of my silkie chickens, as I have a few myself,” says Linder, who immediately went to the Gailberg to look for the rooster. However, at first she only found the box in which the poor animal had been left. “There were still feathers on it. The unknown people probably simply threw the coffin into the ditch and that caused the crane to fall out.”
Dog helped search
But the frightened animal could not be found. “That’s why I got my dog Bailey to track him down,” Linder said. No sooner said than done: the three-legged mixed-breed male found the silk rooster in a bush. Bailey was brought into the car and with the help of his son Dominik, the rooster was eventually caught. ‘It’s a miracle he survived the night in the forest. A fox could have easily caught him.”
The silkie chicken was of course immediately taken care of and will be able to live happily with the Linder family after the quarantine period. “Unless you find a nice place to live together with another animal lover,” Yvonne hopes. Unfortunately, animals are repeatedly abandoned on the Gailberg near Oberdrauburg. “A friend once even found a box with five dead cats. People are becoming more and more cruel!”
