Arnaldo Otegi has made this appeal to all those political, institutional and trade union agents of Euskal Herria who respect our national condition.
The general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, has called for “building a proposal on political status that is able to express the broadest majority in our people.”
Otegi concluded today at the Palace of Europe in Vitoria-Gasteiz the Political Conference in which the pro-independence coalition debated and approved its political plan for the current academic year with 99% support.
After devoting a few first words to the situation in Palestine to appeal to the international community to seek democratic solutions, the Abertzale leader described the current political moment as “historic”.
“We have responsibility and we do not speculate with our political position with short-term games,” he said, referring to the possible inauguration of the acting president of the Spanish government. Pedro Sanchez.
He has emphasized that the coalition is clear about its position “against fascism and for freedom” and has pointed out that EH Bildu picked up “the clear mandate of society to stop the far right and the reactionary bloc” in the general election.
“We are not speculating, we have a responsibility at a historical moment. Our position is that wherever possible and where we are decisive, we will stop the reactionary bloc. If it depends on us, the reactionary blocs will not rule and we will not speculate about that,” he emphasizes.
Otegi has reiterated that the debate about the state model because “the reality of the bloc that will support the government” if Pedro Sánchez returns to office, and “the structural problems of the current model will force that debate.”
Faced with this scenario, Otegi has advocated that the political and social actors of Euskal Herria “who respect our national condition” agree and submit a joint proposal. ‘First the country and then the party’has declared.
Regarding the situation of the coalition, the leader assured that it is “very good”, with a “strategic vision” and with “confidence in the people”, which brings EH Bildu “serenity and strategic patience”, and he has defended that “be truly great, you should be with the people and not above them.”
