After a lengthy tug-of-war, the federal government decided on Wednesday to fill open positions in the General Council of the Austrian National Bank (OeNB).
“In today’s Council of Ministers, the Chairman, Deputy Chairman and other members of the General Council will be appointed for a period of five years,” said Finance Minister Magnus Brunner.
Ingrid Reischl is now vice president
President is still WKÖ boss Harald Mahrer, deputy is now Ingrid Reischl. The Minister of Finance appointed Stefan Pichler, Silvia Angelo, Stephan Koren and Leonhard Dobusch as additional members. They were appointed for a period of five years. The terms of the now reappointed President Harald Mahrer, Deputy Barbara Kolm, Christoph Traunig and Stephan Koren and Brigitte Unger had expired earlier.
This is the second important appointment by the federal government in a short time, which was preceded by a tough battle within the coalition. On Tuesday, the government reached agreement on a new management of the Federal Competition Authority: Natalie Harsdorf-Borsch, who has led the authority on an interim basis since December 2021, will take over the general management.
