Several municipalities in Navarra remain without electronic services after cyber attack

Date:

Services such as e-mail, municipal websites or electronic offices do not work. The public company that owns the local entities is working to get the services restored as soon as possible.

The public company ANIMSA, owned by 179 local entities in Navarra, has faced a cyber-attack on its information systems that has led to the demise of some of its services, such as email, municipal websites or electronic offices.

The incident took place this Wednesday and from the first moment, as reported in a statement, they have taken the necessary measures in conjunction with the National Cryptologic Center (CCN) to stop it immediately and prevent its spread.

Since then, efforts have been made to restore services as quickly as possible, but have not yet succeeded. The public company adds that the facts were brought to the attention of the competent authorities at the same time and the corresponding complaint was lodged.

Everything seems to indicate that these are two ransomware attacks launched from a server in Lithuania (Hive and Cobalt Strike), a type of cyber attack that consists of penetrating a system and encrypting it.
