No mayor has been in the spotlight more in recent years than Alfred Riedl (ÖVP). The incumbent chairman of the municipal association suspended his position after several media reports about real estate transactions. In the first interview since the deals became known, the ‘Krone’ spoke to him about the accusations of crooked optics in his real estate transactions, but also those of the SPÖ officials in Vienna, a possible dismissal and alleged political intrigues.
“Kron”: Mr. Riedl, about two years ago the “Krone” and “Profil” first reported on real estate transactions from which they had personally benefited financially. Since then, you have been repeatedly criticized for poor optics related to the deals. Would you do everything the same way as before?
