EH Bildu proposes to define a “typology of language projects” that replaces models A, B and D

This Friday, EH Bildu presented a proposal aimed at solving the “crisis” created by the Fifth Amendment regarding language models in the Education Law, presented by PNV and PSE-EE.

The program director of EH Bildu, Otxandiano hairexplained at a press conference in Donostia-San Sebastián that the Abertzale coalition’s proposal is based on “defining a typology of language projects that would replace models A, B and D.” The intention is to implement this education law with regard to the multilingual framework, with Basque as the central axis,” he noted.

Otxandiano explained that it would be sufficient to “adopt three amendments”, one from EH Bildu and two from PNV and PSE-EE, to make this proposal a reality, emphasizing that this process would not be complicated from a parliamentary perspective and would take no time. a lot of time.

The program director has also expressed concern about the possibility that the proposal will be closed without any precision after three years of debate. That is why EH Bildu has shown itself prepared to debate with “maximum legal and pedagogical accuracy” until the last moment. minute”.

Otxandiano states that the majority of Basque society has already opted for model D, making the debate on this issue, in his opinion, based on ‘false premises’ and completely ‘artificial’. For this reason, he has accused the PSE-EE of trying to create a “language war” without a real basis and of promoting a “privatizing, segregating model, against the consensus that widely prevails in Basque society.”

He has also criticized the PNV’s position on this issue and expressed surprise at its position. However, Otxandiano has reaffirmed that EH Bildu remains willing to find a solution and has called for the responsibility of all parties involved.
