Israel, for its part, has confirmed that the three hostages are in the hands of Hamas, as the prime minister described “cruel psychological propaganda” the video broadcast. In a message published by his office, Netanyahu directly addressed the kidnapped women, telling them he was sending them a hug and stressing that “every effort will be made to bring back home all the kidnapped and missing people.”
“I address Elena Trupanov, Danielle Aloni and Rimon Kirsht (the three hostages appearing in the video), who were kidnapped by Hamas, which is committing war crimes. I’m sending you a hug. Our hearts are with you and the other hostages,” he assures.
The message released today represents the second video Hamas has published through its social networking channel Telegram, following the broadcast two weeks ago of a recorded message from a young Israeli who said she was doing well and asked to be released.
