The PSE-EE Secretary General Eneko Anduezahas warned that Euskadi should not be allowed to use the commitment to an energy transition and he has noted that the socialists are clear about their commitment to the environment and will accept “neither apologies nor delays” in decisions on which “our future depends”.

“We are going to defend the public interest, with a fair and sustainable growth of our industry and our economy, and we will do it realistically, but do not delay any attempt to delay changes that are essential,” he defended.

Andueza made these statements at the conclusion of the conference ‘Grow better. Hazkunde eredu berria’which the PSE held this Saturday in San Sebastian, with the participation of Raül Blanco, Secretary-General for Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of the central government, among others.

A new, more sustainable and efficient model

In his speech, the socialist leader expressed the view that “how to grow sustainably, innovatively and inclusively” still needs to be considered. For example, he pointed out that, in the field of climate, the great world powers “from most absolute denial in the 70s to a dominant firm commitment today”.

“A sensitivity, an increasingly global commitment, which it’s our turn to partythose of us who have institutional responsibilities are now trying to channel laws, decrees and regulations that affect the daily lives of people and businesses,” he stated.

The socialist leader has “defended a new model that should be more sustainable and efficient in the use of resources, and that should have the circular economy as a principle of transformation of the whole system‘ and has advocated progress in the energy transition, ‘by promoting renewables and decarbonising our production system’, although it represents a ‘huge challenge’.

Thus it has the importance of Next Generation Funds and he recalled that the Basque Country has already received 819 million euros from the European Union, in addition to the 11 PERTE, from public-private partnerships in key areas for the future of our economy.
