The former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, had convened the leadership of the Junts in Belgium on Thursday to decide on the pact with the PSOE for the inauguration of the acting president and candidate for re-election, Pedro Sánchez.
The meeting held by the permanent management of Junts in Brussels on Thursday ended without reaching an agreement with the PSOE, but they say they will continue to negotiate. “We will have to wait at least until tomorrow,” party sources have indicated.
The permanent management of Junts met at the Thon hotel in the Belgian capital under the leadership of the former chairman of the Generalitat and Junts MEP, Carles Puigdemont.
Vice Presidents of the Junts Anna Erra, Josep Rius and Aurora Madaula also attended the meeting; the organizing secretary, David Torrents; the Minister of Finance, Teresa Pallarès, and deputy of the General Secretary, David Saldoni. Former councilor Toni Comín was also present; the leader of the Junts in Congress, Míriam Nogueras, and the spokesperson of the Junts in the Senate, Josep Lluís Cleries.
The PSOE expects an agreement “very soon”.
The Acting Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Cortes and Democratic Memory and member of the PSOE Negotiating Committee, Félix Bolaños, has acknowledged that the agreement with Junts has not yet been concluded regarding the amnesty law for his support for the investiture of the acting president. President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.
The minister did not want to go into details about what stands in the way of the agreement with the party led by Puigdemont, arguing that “it is an ongoing negotiation” and therefore only discretion is possible until it is concluded.
In this sense, Bolaños has made it clear that as soon as there is an agreement with Junts, which he is sure will take place “very soon”, all the details will be released and the agreement will be made public, as is the case with ERC.
