After Israeli flags were recently desecrated in the center of Vienna and in several Austrian state capitals, the government is now targeting Jew haters and tightening the symbol and ban law. This was announced on Wednesday after the Council of Ministers.

Following the massacre of 1,400 Jewish civilians by Hamas terrorists on October 7 and the resulting counterattacks by the Israeli army, several anti-Semitic incidents have also occurred in Austria.
For example, an Israeli flag was torn from the city temple on Seitenstettengasse in central Vienna. Similar incidents also occurred in Salzburg and Linz.
