The current ‘duel’ on krone.tv between Eva Glawischnig and Andreas Mölzer is, among other things, about whether the incumbent Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler will become the Green Party’s top candidate in next May’s EU elections, according to rumors.
Eva Glawischnig argues with her prior knowledge: “Europe is an exciting field. Gewessler is respected across Europe for her knowledge of the energy issue and the EU Green Deal.” Mölzer answers very pragmatically: “The Greens will probably win a maximum of two parliamentary mandates in the EU elections. Ms. Gewessler could fill one of these positions because there will be no more Green participation in the next federal government. Gewessler, like all other Greens, will lose their current government jobs. An EU mandate is better than nothing,” said Mölzer, who himself served in the EU Parliament for a number of years. His conclusion: “It is an escape from domestic politics. Because they will no longer exist there after next year’s National Council elections.”
The two duelists also discuss why Herbert Kickl is currently hardly active in traditional media, does not accept interview invitations and avoids conversations with journalists, preferring to appear on social media platforms or FP-affiliated media, such as FPÖ, without annoying counter questions -TV, to appear.
