Partygoers all over the world love to grab his snack products. Lorenz Bahlsen is considered the ‘Snack King’. The 75-year-old German died after a long illness. His company Lorenz Snack-World announced this on Wednesday.
Lorenz Bahlsen joined the company of his grandfather Hermann Bahlsen, the founder of Leibniz cookies, in 1974. Lorenz and his younger brother Werner-Michael joined the group’s board after the death of their father. But in 1999 there was a rift between the two and Lorenz took over the salt division.
The division subsequently became an independent family business. Today the group, which in addition to Crunchips also produces the well-known NicNac’s peanuts and Saltletts pretzel sticks, employs 3,000 people and is represented in several countries.
“We will miss his courage, insight, humor and advice”
Years ago, Lorenz Bahlsen handed over the management of his company to his son Moritz. “His entrepreneurial values and principles of responsibility, humanity, solidarity and mutual respect will continue to shape the corporate culture within the Lorenz Group,” said the son, paying tribute to his father’s life’s work. “His courage, his inventiveness and insight, his humor and his advice will be greatly missed,” he continued.
In addition to five adult children and a wife, the deceased is also survived by four grandchildren.
