The European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, has requested “detailed” information from the acting Spanish government. Reynders’ full letter was published by Adrián Vázquez, MEP of Ciudadanos, who thanked the European Commissioner.
The European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reyndershas asked the caretaker Spanish government for ‘detailed’ information on the amnesty law being negotiated by the PSOE and the Junts to allow the investiture of Pedro Sánchez and about which ‘serious concerns are being expressed’.
“I would appreciate it if you could provide me with more detailed information, in particular on the personal, material and temporal scope of this planned law,” Rynders wrote in a letter addressed to the acting ministers of the presidency. Felix Bolañosand Justice, Pillar Llopand to which EFE has had access today.
The Belgian politician pleads to ask for the details that “now raise serious concerns in connection with the ongoing debates on the possible adoption of an amnesty law.”
And, he adds, “although there is no formal proposal at the moment, it has become an issue of considerable importance in the public debate and the Commission has been contacted, including by a large number of citizens.”
Spanish socialist sources have indicated this do not worry by Reynders’ letter in the sense that the amnesty law would be constitutional.
Reynders’ full letter was published on the social network this evening Adrian Vazquezwho thanked the European Commissioner for ‘this important movement’.
In his letter, Reynders also takes the opportunity to remind the caretaker Spanish government that after the July 23 general elections, it is time to “give priority to the situation of the Council for the Judiciary and address it without delay” .
