Austria is always neutral and does not participate directly or indirectly in wars within the meaning of international law. But being neutral doesn’t mean doing nothing. A working group within the International Reconciliation Association formulated a new strategy, which was presented to the “Krone”, including concrete action options on how our country can work towards a more peaceful world in the future, mainly by joining civil forces.
The last Security Strategy for Austria (ÖSS) was from 2013, the previous one was from 2001. The next revision should take place at the end of 2023 in order to be prepared for the current geopolitical conditions and global developments such as the war in Ukraine, increasing migration flows, etc.
