National Council Meeting – Better regulation for people with disabilities

Date:

During the plenary session that ended on Thursday evening, the National Council gave people with disabilities better access to AMS services. In concrete terms, the unanimous decision is that in the future disabled people can only be declared unfit for work from the age of 25. This means that those affected have access to the services of the employment service up to this age.

An amendment to the Foreign Labor Code aims to expand the possibilities for recruiting skilled workers from third countries in public transport, to the extent that in the future a professional license will be equated with proof of completed vocational training (or an apprentice qualification ) to enable admission as a professional.

This should combat the shortage of bus and tram drivers. SPÖ and FPÖ rejected the proposal.

NEOS wants an independent federal prosecutor
Finally, NEOS called for a deadline for the introduction of an independent federal prosecutor’s office. The coalition did not heed the call to implement this measure, which had long been discussed within the government, and rejected the proposal, as did the FPÖ.
