Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP) explains in the ‘Krone’ interview how she wants to inherit the President of the National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka, in 2024.
As ‘Krone’ readers have long known, before the summer political holidays, the Governor of Lower Austria, Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP), explained to the controversial National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka that he would no longer be the first choice for the blue-yellow route. state list in the 2024 National Council elections. The first place in the largest state and the strongest representation in the National Council has always been a springboard for prominent political positions in the past – and is therefore highly sought after.
This is also the reason why Mikl-Leitner called for a ministerial duel between Gerhard Karner (Home Affairs) and Klaudia Tanner (Defense) in the race for first place. The decision will be made at the state party’s executive committee — and likely in the next few months.
At this point, the former director of the Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association will probably lead the way internally. In a conversation with Stefana Madjarov and Nina Coloini, the army minister from Scheibbs, who was popular with the troops, now went on the offensive. “There is no doubt that I am interested in running,” Tanner said in an interview with krone.tv (see video above), in which she gave her clear route for the National Council elections.
