Flood of registrations – 100 new statutory health insurers – but there is more!

Date:

Within a few weeks, 300 interested parties will register for 100 financed checkout locations. But there’s more. The expansion could take place faster than previously planned.

The first improvements in the physician shortage will begin this year. There are considerably more registrations than expected for the 100 additional cash register positions announced by the government.

A total of 300 interested parties registered within a very short time. The health insurer’s invitation to interested parties was only sent in mid-December. These are mainly functions for general medicine, pediatrics, gynaecology, psychiatry, ophthalmology and skin and sexually transmitted diseases.

Starting bonus up to 100,000 euros
The distribution of the functions among the states is based on the population key. For each position, a starting bonus of up to 100,000 euros is provided for the initial equipment of the ordination, which must be used for a minimum of five years.

The expansion of employment could be faster
Given this strong interest, the planned expansion of the cash offices could proceed faster than planned. Social security received 300 million euros per year to expand the cash registers. The 100 newly created cashier positions and other vacancies that are not currently filled are available to the 300 interested parties. The ÖGK can therefore not only start the detailed planning for the first 100 positions, but also advertise additional positions. “We expect a noticeable improvement in care in many areas,” Health Minister Johannes Rauch told “Krone”. According to Rauch, the first openings will take place in the first half of the year.

Full expansion planned for five years
The full expansion of the cash registers will take a total of five years. It has not been specified how many new jobs will be created. Once the target was 500, the ÖVP set a target of 800. “We are confident that the 100 new vacancies can be filled quickly. Comprehensive healthcare requires a dense network of statutory health insurers, which is why we have taken this expansion step,” said Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
