The Spanish Foreign Minister considers Milei’s statements as a “frontal attack” against the presidency of the Spanish government and its “blatant interference” in Spain’s internal affairs.
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares on Monday called on Argentina’s ambassador to Spain, Roberto Sebastián Bosch, to apology from his country’s president, Javier Mileiand has not ruled out the possibility of breaking off relations if he does not.
Albares announced the meeting with the Argentine ambassador in a radio interview, after reporting that it had taken place the day before called for consultations “sine die” with the Spanish ambassador to Argentina and now demanded that apology.

Asked whether the situation could lead to the severance of relations with Argentina, the minister limited himself to announcing that he had summoned that country’s ambassador to Madrid this morning to convey “the seriousness of the situation” and to demand Milei’s apology.

“From now on, if they don’t happen, we will act accordingly. It is clear that we do not want to exercise these measures, but if there is no public apology, we will do so,” he added.
The minister has emphasized that both Vox and the Partido Popular must also apologize and explain why they do not join the defense of Spain’s institutions.
At the same time, Albares has sent a message of calm to Argentinians in general, to Spaniards living in Argentina or to Argentinians living in Spain, to ensure that none of the measures adopted harms them and the “fraternal” relations between the two peoples will harm will be continued.
