As can be seen in a video that the museum itself has published, there are only two visitors in the room where the artwork is exhibited. The couple is waiting for the security personnel to leave the room, the displayed man is approaching the exhibition.

At that moment the small chair collapses under its weight. The tourists flee and disappear through the door of the room. The damage is great.

“Respectless behavior”
“A superficial and disrespectful behavior threatened the integrity of a work of art: the ‘Van-Gogh’ chairman of the artist Nicola Bolla. Vanessa Carlon, director of the museum, who published the video for the incident and submitted a complaint against unknown. The police are working on identifying the two tourists.

Armchair good again
“We have decided not to limit ourselves to describing the events. We want to regard this incident as an opportunity to think that art should be respected, loved and protected,” said Carlon.

The chair has returned to the Maffei Museum after careful restoration. Bolla is an artist who often uses Swarovski crystals to decorate his works.
