A tragic alpine accident occurred in Carinthia on the afternoon of Pentecost Sunday: during a tour of the Kleine Reisskofel, a hiker (41) fell over the north face.
The two Slovaks were already descending the western ridge of the small Reißkofel (Hermagor district) when the accident happened: the 41-year-old lost his balance and then fell 200 meters into the north face in front of his wife.
The 35-year-old immediately made an emergency call and the C7 rescue helicopter team went to the victim. The emergency doctor could only determine that the hiker was dead. The woman and her deceased husband were rescued from the helicopter using rope and flown into the valley.
