The Gipuzko Buru Batzar (GBB) of the PNV has proposed to: Eneko Goia, current mayor of Donostia-San Sebastiánthat he is again the party candidate for the mayoralty of San Sebastian with the aim of repeating the victory of Jeltzale for the third time in the capital Gipuzkoa in the Elections May 2023.
The proposal is communicated to Goia from the highest governing body of the party in the territory and through the so-called “Interjuntas” of San Sebastián, in which the various “batzokis” of the municipality are represented.
San Sebastian City Council sources confirmed this proposal this Saturday, although they have warned that the internal process which will follow the match at the local level has not officially started yet.
So far there is no evidence that Eneko Goia has formally responded to his party’s leadership approach, although in numerous media appearances he has always said that is “at the disposal” of his party.
If he accepted and his candidacy was confirmed in the internal procedure, as was to be expected, Goia would opt for the mayoral office of San Sebastián for the third time in a row, which he took from Juan Karlos Izagirre (EH Bildu) in 2015. and held again from 2019, with more votes and one more councilor than in his first term.
