LH chairman – Mikl-Leitner: “Countries must now stay on track”

She thanked her predecessor Peter Kaiser and explained her specific goal: “In these times, countries have a particularly great responsibility to act as places of stability, security and further development.”

When asked by the “Krone”, Mikl-Leitner said: “At a time when polarization is increasing and there is a high degree of uncertainty, the federal states have a great responsibility. Under the presidency of Lower Austria, the states want to focus on constructive cooperation across state and party lines.” They wanted to join forces and counterbalance the unrest in this world with stability. “For me, the presidency means that we talk to each other. Learn from each other. “Working for the people,” says Mikl-Leitner.

A car overturned and came to rest on its wheels in a meadow. Because the driver is in a wheelchair, he was unable to free himself from the wreck. Emergency services had to remove the rear door and B-pillar to save the injured man.

Volunteer work is central
Thematically, she wants to focus, among other things, on strengthening volunteer work. Mikl-Leitner emphasizes the importance of volunteer activities: “Without voluntary efforts, our country and its countries would stand still. Whether it concerns church clubs such as youth groups, sports clubs, the fire brigade or elderly care. 700,000 compatriots do volunteer work in Lower Austria and thus have a decisive influence on the identity of our country. What some people deride as ‘clubbing’ is actually the foundation on which cohesion in our country is built. This is our culture and across Europe there is an increasing risk that we are denying our own culture and customs due to misunderstood tolerance. But we cannot hide our culture from immigrants, that would be the opposite of integration.”
