Euskaraz irakurri: “Leader eta gehiengo berriak” bilatuko ditu EH Bilduk, “aro-aldaketarako”

How to deal with this unique historical moment in the history of mankind? Based on that question, EH Picture described in the document’Basque country. A better country the milestones proposed by the coalition for the construction of a new project for the country. It states “new solutions, new leadership and new majorities” to leave behind “this regressive framework”, the result of “geopolitical and economic factors”, and move towards the “change of era”.

The document, the product of a reflection begun several months ago, proposes a roadmap with five “challenges for countries”: “strengthen strategic sovereignty, transform welfare structures, renew knowledge systems and strengthening community identityIn this sense, EH Bildu acknowledges that he is “aware” of the fact that such goals “cannot be achieved by any political force”, however broad and diverse they may be, and assures that “new socio-political majorities will that need to express themselves in multiple ways and in multiple spheres.” The key, the coalition says, is to “articulate new socio-political majorities capable of operationalizing the sociological majorities that already exist in our country.”

EH Bildu explains that “when short-term party interests are set aside”, political agreements “become a lever for wider social processes” and assures that in Euskal Herria there is “sufficient individual and collective will to follow this path”. “Should overcome the fragmenting dynamicssubordinate corporate interests, weave hitherto improbable complicity, and above all and most importantly, ultimately avoid reactionary speeches suggesting that we give up all hope in politics and lead us to horrendous pessimism,” the text reads.

Likewise, the diagnosis emphasizes the need for “a transformative pragmatism that does not shy away from the debate about ideas, that confronts when necessary, but at the same time is able to come to agreements, to join forces and will, to create space for encounter” .

They are looking for a change of course, but they are looking at what happened during the transformation process that began in the second half of the 20th century to “remove the collective ambition to dream, the strong community perspective when it comes to understanding development and the clear egalitarian feeling” of the time. They remember that at that time they “had their beginnings, among other experiences, the process of euskaldunization, the development of ikastolas and cooperatives”, and all this they add, “thanks to a great collective effort, through various leaders and collecting the contribution of different political traditions.

“Restore the community instinct”

“Without falling into the myth of our past,” EH Bildu emphasizes the need to “restore the community instinct“: “a tradition that through multiple factors has maintained an egalitarian view of the world, developed collective ownership and made an effort in democratic practice”. They ensure that “we live on the income of the past, deal with indolence and it lacks the strategic vision and transformative leadership needed to meet the colossal challenges of this historic moment” so that “it is time to make the past profitable in terms of the land and project it into the future.” “.

On the other hand, the text clarifies that “Basque society faces a double split: distribution of wealth versus impoverishment of society; modes of production and consumption versus economic and environmental collapse”. This scenario “requires the design of structural actions beyond palliative measures”, and proposes, among others, the following measures: “energy market intervention, protection of income and redistribution of wealth”

Now, with diagnosis in hand, EH Bildu will begin a round of meetings with social, political and trade union agents from across Euskal Herria, seeking multiple and broad agreements.
