Due to high inflation, party financing increases by several million euros

The high inflation of the previous year boosted party support. Instead of the 34.5 million euros last year, the parties will receive 37.2 million euros this year. The amount is adjusted annually for inflation. In 2023 this was 7.8 percent.

Including club and academy financing, 77.9 million euros will flow to the five parliamentary parties this year. The ÖVP, which received the most votes in the last National Council elections, will receive a total of 26.4 million euros in federal funding in 2024. The SPÖ is good for 17 million euros and the FPÖ 13.6 million euros. The Greens will receive 12.3 million euros from the pots, the NEOS, the smallest parliamentary party, will receive 8.6 million euros.

Club financing in parliament, which is linked to the development of civil servant salaries, increases by 9.15 percent to 28.6 million euros. Funding for party academies will also be increased for the first time since 2014, by 14 percent: 12 million euros will go to the ÖVP Political Academy, the SPÖ Karl Renner Institute, the Freedom Education Institute, the FREDA Green Academy and the NEOS Lab distributed in 2024 .

Special funding for EU elections
In addition, the parties will receive approximately €16 million in special funding for the EU elections this year. The division between the parties depends on the election results. This amount has therefore not yet been included in the financing amounts of the parties.
