Dominik Wlazny will lead the Beer Party in the upcoming National Council elections. The chairman, also known as ‘Marco Pogo’, invited people to make a ‘statement’ on Thursday – and left a back door open.
“The popularity of the beer festival is unbroken,” Wlazny began his statement. Now it’s about making the metaphorical ‘FC Simmering’ suitable for the Bundesliga. Wlazny says: “Yes, we are ready!” The beer party participates in the elections for the National Council.
The neo-politician is convinced that he can make a constructive contribution. According to the motto: facts instead of ideology. “Talk to me about the future,” was his appeal. It’s about equal opportunities, it’s about the next generation having a say.
Social policy as a spearhead
However, Wlazny does not want to focus solely on the topic of education. A fairer health care system and affordable housing would also be on his list. When it comes to inflation, the Republic is not in a ‘rosy’ situation.
An aptitude test for ministers is introduced with a beer festival in the National Council. Another essential pillar is financing. ‘The Beer Party is ready, we know how to get started.’ But without money the party’s goals could not be achieved. And that is missing – ‘still’.
Start only with the necessary support
If we manage to recruit enough paying members by the end of April, the beer festival will certainly participate. The goal here is 20,000 people. However, large donors are not welcome: “Large donorship creates dependency!” The membership fee is 59 euros per year.
He would have enough experience to do it well: “By the way, I am the longest-serving party leader in Austria,” Wlazny could not help but say because of the turbulent recent past of the established party landscape.
The Beer Party, founded in 2015, stood as a candidate in the 2019 National Council elections, but only in Vienna, and clearly missed access to parliament at the time. This time it could look different: the rock musician Wlazny has received more attention since his third place (eight percent) in the 2022 elections for federal president.
