A mistake with consequences? Hannes Koza, the ÖVP mayor of Vösendorf, is facing investigations and loud calls for his resignation.
Investigation of the “Krone” caused a lot of commotion. As reported, the local boss of Vösendorf near Vienna, Hannes Koza, charged the municipality the legal costs he incurred due to a necessary withdrawal due to a message on X (formerly Twitter) as consultancy costs for the purchase of a new fire truck.
“Unfortunately self-corrected”
“A mistake” that Koza also admitted – and an invoice that he promptly refunded, according to his own statements, but which he “unfortunately” corrected in advance. Before his time, it was common for mayors to receive such costs from the municipality. A statement that the Wiener Neustadt Public Prosecutor’s Office, which is investigating suspicions of infidelity and falsification of documents, will now investigate. Koza is presumed innocent.
SPÖ calls for resignation
It is important that the SPÖ acts quickly. “Every day that Koza remains in power damages the reputation of all mayors in our country. Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner will have to make this clear to him soon,” explains SPÖ party leader Wolfgang Zwaander.
