Aburto believes there are “excessive” demonstrations in Bilbao and suggests they take place on the sidewalks

Date:

The mayor of the capital of Bizkaia has assured that the protests are “changing the quality of life of citizens” and asked that the demonstrations be held “at another point or on the sidewalk.”

The Mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburtobelieves that there is one “excessive” number of demonstrations in the city, and even proposed in an interview on Radio Bilbao that it should take place “on the sidewalk”, without cutting off the road.

According to Aburto, there are “several” demonstrations in the capital of Bizkaia “every day”, and these “change the quality of life of citizens”. The mayor has assured that he “respects as much as anyone the right of assembly and demonstration of anyone on any problem”, but believes that “it is also very important to take into account society as a whole.”

For this reason, Aburto appeals to the “responsibility” of the demonstrators, so that “it may not be absolutely necessary to cut the road” in their protests. “You can demonstrate at another point or on the sidewalk“, added.

“Should you always block the road? I don’t think so. I want to appeal to the fact that it can be feasible to demonstrate and at the same time not disrupt people’s lives every day,” the mayor said.

After emphasizing that his statements are not demonstrating against the workers, but that he “very much respects their right to demonstrate,” he emphasized that “sometimes we should try to connect that with the rest of the things that are happening in the country. the city, nothing else”.
