Peter Sidlo, who was briefly CFO of Casinos Austria under the FPÖ-ÖVP government, was also rejected by the Supreme Court (OGH). He wanted more than 2 million euros in salary from his former employer for the entire term of his management contract, even though he only worked for a few months.
The Supreme Court upheld lower court rulings that Sidlo had concealed important information about his political support, the ‘Standard’ reported.
Straches Mann
Sidlo mainly lobbied then FPÖ boss Heinz-Christian Strache to become a board member of the casino. This became known during the investigation into the Ibiza video. Criminal investigations are still being conducted against numerous ex-politicians of the FPÖ and ÖVP surrounding the casino case and the role of Novomatic.
In civil law, the case has been definitively resolved with the OGH ruling. Withholding important information about his political support justifies both his dismissal as CFO and the termination of the employment contract, the newspaper quoted from the highest judgment in its Wednesday edition.
“Serious damage to image” of Sidlo
The casino’s supervisory board prematurely dismissed Sidlo in December 2019 due to “gross neglect of duty, serious damage to image and loss of reputation”.
